Standing with Lanka Comic Con – Supporting the Sri Lankan Cosplay Community

Cosplayers at Lanka Comic Con standing together – Sri Lankan cosplay community

The Sri Lankan cosplay community has long endured adversity, from societal ridicule to online harassment. Even before Anime.lk existed, fans of anime and cosplay in Sri Lanka were often pushed to the margins, misunderstood, and targeted simply for enjoying what they love. Anime.lk was founded to change that—to provide a space where everyone could belong.

Today, both Anime and Anime.lk are finally starting to feel more welcome in Sri Lanka. We’ve seen the community grow, evolve, and gain acceptance. But even as we move forward, old threats resurface.

A dark cloud now hangs over the Sri Lankan geek and cosplay communities once again. The current situation within the Sri Lankan cosplay community is both shocking and disheartening. Harassment, bullying, and hateful behavior have returned—this time, louder and more aggressive than ever.

But this time, we say NO. This is our space. This is our community.

We’ve always been here. And we will not be silenced, pushed out, or intimidated.

They are not welcome.

We invite everyone in the Sri Lankan cosplay community to stand strong, stay safe, and support one another. We will not allow hate to define who we are.

Anime.lk fully supports Lanka Comic Con and the bans they have issued to protect the community. No one deserves to be harassed or excluded based on what they wear or who they are.

We are proud to stand with those who value inclusivity, creativity, and respect.
